Live music ticket prices vary sharply by tour, venue market, country, and purchase channel. Pollstar reported a $135.92 average ticket for the worldwide Top 100 tours in 2024, while Live Nation said 65% of its 2024 concert tickets were priced below $100. The figures below separate those different measures so readers can compare like with like.

U.S. ticket price benchmarks
Pollstar’s year-end analysis reported a $136.45 average ticket price for the North American Top 100 tours in 2024. Its worldwide Top 100 average was slightly lower, at $135.92. These are averages for high-profile touring activity, not a typical price for every concert or every seat.
Live Nation’s 2024 Annual Report provides a different view based on the company’s concert-ticket distribution. It said 65% of its concert tickets were priced below $100, while 2% were priced above $500. Those percentages show that a large share of tickets remained under $100 even as the average for major tours exceeded $135.
The company reported lower price bands for 2023: two-thirds of U.S. concert tickets were below $100, and one-third were below $50. Comparing the reported shares suggests that the under-$100 portion was 1 percentage point smaller in 2024 than in 2023, but the two reports describe different annual reporting periods and should not be treated as a controlled price index.
Live Nation’s 2025 First-Quarter Results reported a $60 average stadium get-in price for 2025, described as 8% below 2024 levels. The same source said 2025 U.S. get-in prices were averaging below the prior year and were running 10 percentage points below the inflation rate since 2019. “Get-in” describes the entry-level price measure in that report, so it is not interchangeable with a Top 100 tour average.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics assigned admissions a 0.704% relative importance in the U.S. Consumer Price Index basket in December 2025. This is a measure of the category’s weight in consumer spending, not a ticket-price average.
How prices changed over time
The long-run picture depends on which price series is used. From 2000 to 2025, U.S. prices for admission to movies, theaters, and concerts rose 105.0%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Over the same period, the all-items U.S. CPI rose 87.0%, while the broader U.S. recreation category rose 36.6%.
| Measure | Change | Period | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Admission to movies, theaters, and concerts | 105.0% | 2000–2025 | BLS |
| All-items U.S. CPI | 87.0% | 2000–2025 | BLS |
| U.S. recreation category | 36.6% | 2000–2025 | BLS |
Pollstar’s worldwide Top 100 series shows a substantial increase during the more recent touring period. The average rose 41.3%, from $96.17 in 2019 to $135.92 in 2024. Pollstar also reported year-to-year increases of 20% in 2022 from 2021 and 23% in 2023 from 2022. The increase in 2024 was smaller: the average rose 3.91%, from $130.81 in 2023 to $135.92.
North American Top 100 prices also moved higher across the period covered by Pollstar’s analysis. The average was $135.88 in 2023, up 21.9% from 2022. In 2024, the North American average increased 0.42% from the prior year, reaching $136.45.
These series are useful for describing direction and scale, but they represent different populations. The BLS measure covers a broad admissions category, while Pollstar’s figures focus on the Top 100 tours. Live Nation’s percentages and get-in price describe ticket distributions and entry-level stadium pricing.
City and regional differences
Pollstar’s 2024 market data covered shows played from November 16, 2023, through November 13, 2024. Among the listed top U.S. markets, Las Vegas had the highest average ticket price at $204.23. Other major-market averages included $128.69 in Miami–Fort Lauderdale, $115.97 in Los Angeles, $108.49 in New York, and $103.60 in Austin.
The same table shows a wide range across Southern and nearby markets. New Orleans averaged $106.46, Atlanta $95.32, Charlotte $92.91, Tampa–St. Petersburg–Sarasota $92.67, Jacksonville $83.00, and Biloxi–Gulfport $80.60. Birmingham, covering Anniston and Tuscaloosa, recorded $75.34, while Little Rock–Pine Bluff recorded $72.69.
| U.S. market | Average ticket price | Measurement period |
|---|---|---|
| Las Vegas | $204.23 | Shows played Nov. 16, 2023–Nov. 13, 2024 |
| Miami–Fort Lauderdale | $128.69 | Shows played Nov. 16, 2023–Nov. 13, 2024 |
| New Orleans | $106.46 | Shows played Nov. 16, 2023–Nov. 13, 2024 |
| Atlanta | $95.32 | Shows played Nov. 16, 2023–Nov. 13, 2024 |
| Nashville | $79.30 | Shows played Nov. 16, 2023–Nov. 13, 2024 |
| Memphis | $72.26 | Shows played Nov. 16, 2023–Nov. 13, 2024 |
| Savannah | $68.74 | Shows played Nov. 16, 2023–Nov. 13, 2024 |
| Mobile–Pensacola | $68.51 | Shows played Nov. 16, 2023–Nov. 13, 2024 |
| Chattanooga | $59.26 | Shows played Nov. 16, 2023–Nov. 13, 2024 |
| Evansville | $36.42 | Shows played Nov. 16, 2023–Nov. 13, 2024 |
Nashville averaged $79.30, Memphis $72.26, and Savannah $68.74. Mobile–Pensacola was close to Savannah at $68.51. Pollstar’s table placed Evansville at $36.42, the lowest value among the listed 100 markets, and Chattanooga at $59.26. These values are market averages for the stated show period, not guarantees for a particular artist, venue, or seat location.
Global average ticket prices
Pollstar’s 2024 global comparison also shows substantial differences between country averages. Taiwan had the highest reported country average at $166.85. The Philippines averaged $157.50, and Thailand averaged $150.64.
At the lower end of the reported comparison, Chile averaged $59.03 and China $40.32. South Africa had the lowest country average in Pollstar’s 2024 comparison, at $26.48.
| Country | 2024 average ticket price |
|---|---|
| Taiwan | $166.85 |
| Philippines | $157.50 |
| Thailand | $150.64 |
| Chile | $59.03 |
| China | $40.32 |
| South Africa | $26.48 |
The difference between Taiwan’s $166.85 and South Africa’s $26.48 is a gap between country-level averages, not a statement that every concert in one country costs more than every concert in the other. Tour mix, market coverage, and the events included in the comparison all matter when interpreting an average.
Face value, resale, and fees
The amount displayed as a ticket price is not always the same as the final amount paid. A Government Accountability Office review of event-ticket sales, published in 2018 and based on fee observations from 2016–2017, found average total fees equal to 27% of ticket price for primary-market ticketing companies in its nongeneralizable event sample. The corresponding average for secondary-market ticketing companies was 31%.
The same GAO review reported that some white-label resale sites charged fees exceeding 40% of the ticket price. A New York Attorney General review cited by GAO found average ticket fees of 21% across more than 800 tickets at 150 New York venues in a 2016 review.
GAO’s published case example illustrates how resale listings can diverge from primary-market prices. For one sold-out rock concert, primary-market prices were about $50–$100, while secondary listings were about $90–$790. This is a single case example, not an average resale markup for all concerts.
The Federal Trade Commission estimated in December 2024 that its junk-fee rule could save up to 53 million hours per year that consumers spend searching for total prices for live-event tickets and lodging. The FTC valued that estimated time saving at more than $11 billion over the next decade. Both figures are estimates associated with the rule, not observed ticket-price reductions.
Price extremes and affordability signals
Tour-level averages can sit far above entry-level prices. Pollstar reported that Bad Bunny’s 2024 Most Wanted Tour had a $279.98 average ticket price, one of the largest among the worldwide Top 100 artists. That average is more than four times Live Nation’s reported $60 average stadium get-in price for 2025, although the two figures refer to different measures and periods.
At the other end of the market table, Evansville’s $36.42 average and Chattanooga’s $59.26 average provide lower-price benchmarks for the shows covered by Pollstar’s November 2023–November 2024 measurement period. Live Nation’s 2023 report also found that one-third of U.S. concert tickets were below $50, giving another view of the entry-level portion of the market.
The affordability picture therefore has several layers: broad admissions prices rose 105.0% from 2000 to 2025; major-tour averages reached $135.92 worldwide and $136.45 in North America in 2024; and many tickets remained below $100 in Live Nation’s distribution. Fees and resale can then widen the difference between a listed face value and the final purchase price. Reading the measurement period, geography, ticket segment, and source definition alongside each number is essential when comparing live music costs.
